Original people
In the argentine bicentennial a reminder to the native peoples that were / are seYamanasveral many and different. A simple snapshot with a promise of new comments a little deeper on the subject.
1 .- The Pampas and northern Patagonia: the NORTH PATAGON or GUENAKEN best known by the name given by other people: TEHUELCHES (“surly people “).
In southern Patagonia, the sOUTHERN PATAGON or CHONEKAS, that seemed giants to the expedition of Magellan. At the foot of the mountains the HUARPES in the area now occupied by the provinces of San Juan, Mendoza and Neuquén, and further south the PEUENCHES. In Tierra del Fuego, ONAS who called themselves SHELKNAM (“men”) and were close relatives of CHONEKAS. In the fueguinos channels there are the YAMANAS in their canoes.
2 .- In the region stretching from north of Santa Fe and east of Santiago del Estero by the provinces of Formosa, Chaco and Salta part extending to Paraguay and Bolivia were installed MATACOS; different groups of the family GUAYCURÚS (TOBAS, PILAGÁS, ABIPONES and MOCOVÍES) and north of Salta, near the edge of the Chaco region, the relatives of the GUARANÍES family, the CHIRIGUANOS
3 .- In the Litoral and Mesopotamia, in the territory where they are today the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Entre Rios, Corrientes and Misiones, part of Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay, the CHANÁ-TIMBÚ and GUARANÍES that are growers, the CHARRÚAS, the CAINGANG and QUERANDÍES that are hunters and gatherers
4 .- In the Puna, a large plateau over 3000 meters high that extends to the west of Jujuy, Salta and Catamarca Northwest found the APATAMAS; in the valleys of Santa Maria and Yocabil, the CALCHAQUÍES; in the valleys of Bethlehem, and Abaucán, Hualfín the CACÁN or DIAGUITAS, in La Rioja and San Juán the CAPAYAM. All of them with their own and differents cultures, knowledge, beliefs, philosophy of life and worldview complete our multicultural nation and we owe them recognition, respect and appreciation of their rights and dignity
